9 Months!

At 9 months, David is eating just about everything :) Which probably accounts for his weight, topping out at 21lbs (with height 29.25")! He's trying eggs, yogurt, pancakes, french toast, watermelon, and pickles! We discovered David's love for pickles in California when Uncle Ray jokingly let him try one out... when we tried taking it back he was not happy! Here he is sampling one:

David also has 2 teeth! They popped through (together on the bottom) right before our California trip. He's sleeping like a champ (especially now that the teeth are in :) usually from around 8pm - 7am), crawling all over (including up and over Josh - his favorite thing to do is play jungle gym on daddy :)), standing up, babbling like crazy, and mimicking fun new sounds (like pretending he is using an electric toothbrush to brush his teeth; and repeating "Cat" and mama, papa, daddy). He gets a kick out of reading his 2 favorite books: I Love You Through and Through, and How Much Do I Love You.

He loves doing facetime with mom-mom, pop-pop, nana & grandpa, and of course loves seeing them in person too :)

David got to meet the Philly Phanatic too! At first he was intrigued, but once the phanatic got within reach, he pulled away and let out a good shreak :)

We also got to visit Aunt Lauren & Uncle Sean's pool, and hang out with Cole! Here are some fun shots of our pool day with the Byrnes:

And finally, here is our 9 month photo shoot!

First Wedding & Trip to California!

June 22, 2013

David got to go to his first wedding - for Josh's cousin Sarah and Cory - and it just happened to be in California! It was my first time to California too, so we made a long weekend out of it and got to spend time in San Francisco after the wedding (which was in Upper Lake at the Sarasota Springs retreat center).

The wedding was amazing - we spent the whole weekend with all of Josh's relatives and met lots of new friends too. The venue, and the drive up and back, was beautiful. We saw lots of vineyards, lakes, and cows! We didn't get too many scenery shots but we got a TON of family pics. SO, let's let the pics do the talking :)

First, the way there - David did awesome on the plane ride there & back (this was his third flight, after all - he's a pro!). Here he is checking out the rockies:

Over 5hrs of immobility and nothing but smiles out of David :)
We got to spend lots of time hanging out with Nana and Grandpa!

And we finally met cousin Erika!

And spent some time with our favorite cousin Sue:

Some fun shots with mommy & daddy:

And hanging with with our most favorite uncle, great-Uncle Ray!

I love how David is looking at Ray :)
Here are some shots of us all dressed up on the day of the wedding:

David with the boys
It was truly one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever attended, filled with love and great times spent with family and friends. And if David remembers anything about it, I'm sure he'll agree :)

After the wedding festivities were over, we stopped at Armstrong Redwoods on our way back to San Fran. The redwoods are ENORMOUS! Pictures don't really do them justice, but we tried :)

We also took a detour to try and show David (and me!) the Pacific Ocean, but it was pretty foggy and drizzly, so this was the best shot we got along the side of the road.
Not sure this counts as David 'seeing' the Pacific Ocean.. guess that just means we'll have to come back :)
We didn't get many shots of David in San Fran (he slept for the whole 2hrs we toured around the city!), but here he is with daddy hanging out in the hotel room on our last day in Cali. (he looks like he's 5!)

We had such an awesome trip - David once again got flying colors for his traveling skills (even if he doesn't sleep great overnight when we're in strange places, the actual travel part of our trips are always great, so we just need to schedule time to sleep when we get home! :)).

And here's one final shot of him entertaining himself on the flight home:

First Father's Day & David's First Haircut!

June 16th, 2013
Our first Father's Day weekend was filled with adventure! First up, David's first haircut! Sadly, it was the 2nd or 3rd "how old is your baby girl?" comment that finally made me realize it was time to get David a real haircut (vs. my measly attempts at trimming up his bangs/ears) :) We heard that the place I get MY hair cut does a great job with kids too, so, off we went to Gravity, to get our first cut by Mr. Brian! And he did not disappoint. He was great with David, and David did awesome. Here are some shots :)

Thanks Mr. Brian!
The BEFORE
and AFTER
Thankfully our first haircut experience was a success. I have a feeling we'll be going back pretty regularly as it appears he's got his mommy & daddy's hair (thick, wavy, and lots of it!) :)

Our next adventure of the weekend was going to visit a lake about 30min away at Peace Valley Park. The lake was beautiful, and Franklin could not have been more excited to get in and go for a swim. We can't wait until David is a bit older so we can take him out on the canoes & kayaks! Here are some shots of daddy with his boys :)

Finally, to top off the weekend we had a friend come over to snap some family portraits. We LOVE how they came out (thanks Meredith!!!) - here are just a few of our faves :)

And finally, since it is Father's Day and all, I'd like to give a shout-out to Josh, who truly is one of the most amazing fathers I know. When the boys and I were figuring out what to get him for his first father's day, we were trying to think of all the things that would bring him joy. I realized that what makes him the happiest is seeing all of us happy. Taking Franklin & David on new adventures is Josh's favorite thing to do. Spending time with his boys is the only way Josh would choose to spend this day - and there's really nothing more a kid could ask for of his dad (and nothing more I could ask for from my #1 guy :)). We love you Josh/ Daddy!
